The human body is made up of approximately 60% water, but most people don't think about the health impacts of not drinking enough.  Water is the lubricant or oil that helps your organs and brain function properly.  Drinks like coffee or soda do not properly hydrate the body and can even take extra water to digest properly.  I hear a lot of people complain they don't like the taste of water but that can be easily improved by adding flavor from lemons, apple cider vinegar, or Beyond Tangy Tangerine 2.0.  The biggest thing the average person can do to improve their health is to drink more pure or filtered water.  Soma created a great infographic showing the effects on your body from not drinking enough water.
